Post subject:  Harmony Bobkat Tuners

Hi.

I have a Harmony Bobkat H-16. Amazing sound from the DeArmonds! But it's a total bear to tune. I've tried lubricating the gears, graphite on the shafts, and even a replacement set of tuners (vintage.) No joy - and you can break your wrist tuning this thing!

Anyway, there's this video of a gut putting Klusons on his. But doesn't bother to mention or remember the Kluson product no.

Can anyone I.D. the Klusons? Or/and recommend a set that I can put on that require minimal drilling, etc?

Thanks!

In my 45 plus years at the bench, it's almost NEVER the tuning machines. Yes, I know - they do wear out. Most of the time it's the setup. The nut slots were never set low enough to keep from sharping the strings at both ends. Suggest you start there...
